Enugu Rangers finally returned to winning ways on Sunday as they mauled Kano Pillars 3-1 in a rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League game at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium.
At the end, it turned out to be a better day for Rangers who won a penalty kick barely 60 seconds into Sunday’s game.
Chibuzor Madu calmly converted the spot kick and four minutes later Chiamaka Madu doubled the lead for the champions who were 2-0 up inside six minutes of action.
There was more action to savour towards the end of the first 45 minutes as Ifeanyi George scored on his debut for Rangers but Pillars pulled one back at added time to end the first half 3-1.
As it would turn out, there were no more goals in the second half but Rangers had done enough to earn all three points.
Despite the win, Rangers are still rooted to the bottom of the league table with 17 points from 16 matches.
